A village in winterland
Teriberka is a small village on the coast of The Barents Sea, far north on the Kola Peninsula. It was almost deserted until 2014, when parts of the movie "Leviathan" was recorded here. Some tourist started to come here, and from around 2017, many more toruist came. Mainly Chinese, and they came to see the aurora borealis - the northern lights. Today the village is booming with new hotels and snowmobile trips. But Teriberka is still very rural and there are no luxury hotels. And the temperature in winter is low, and the wind often very strong.
Today the village has about 600 inhabitants, but back in its heydays, it had 5000 people.
In this image, traces from Teriberkas former days are covered in deep snow. Old Ladas and houses not used anymore, stand here like monuments over past times.
